All my soaps are handcrafted in small batches, using the traditional cold process method of a 6-week slow cure. This not only results in a long-lasting bar of soap, but also means that all the benefits of the shea butter and plant-based oils (which are rich in vitamins, antioxidants and nutrients) are retained. Our soaps are enriched further by adding a variety of natural ingredients and our own blends of essential oils – producing a range of beautifully nourishing and hydrating bars which lather, soothe and pamper.
For people with sensitive skin or skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, natural soaps can be a life-changing product, providing all the nourishing benefits to the skin leaving it soft, hydrated and refreshed. More importantly you will be putting nothing but 100% natural goodness onto your skin and back into the environment.
Originally I wanted to have a really citrusy, zesty soap but soon discovered that citrus essential oils are volatile, meaning they evaporate pretty quickly.
After much experimenting, I managed to achieve that orangey kick by using kaolin clay and a special combination of essential oils to help anchor the fragrance.
Kaolin clay is a fine textured, highly absorbent mineral compound which is perfect for deep cleansing and exfoliating. Not only does it have gentle skin polishing benefits and absorbs both oil and water; it helps to ‘fix’ scents and minimises the look of pores. Managing to soak up the excess shine without stripping it completely.
Sweet Orange essential oil is used for its ability to boost mood, reduce anxiety and stress. It is also antibacterial and anti microbial helping to improve the skins complexion and circulation – smells amazing too!
Lavender essential oil, as we know has been used since ancient times, across all cultures for its sweet floral scent which is woody, powdery, herbal and evergreen all in one! It has numerous benefits for the skin, smoothing tone, reducing acne, reducing wrinkles and aiding with relaxation.
Patchouli essential oil is hailed for skin cell regeneration and has various anti-aging properties. The warming, earthy aroma of this oil combines magically with the lavender and sweet Orange to create a really beautifully fragranced soap.
The Blend:
Coconut Oil – rich in antioxidants and has high levels of fatty acids and natural fats which help to create healthier, softer skin that can better repair itself. It is an effective moisturiser and its natural foaming properties are unmatched.
Olive Oil – softens and conditions the skin, it is also rich in antioxidants protecting the skin and helps to prevent wrinkles and sagging of the skin. Olive oil can restore the natural oils our skin produces, giving a smoother, plumper appearance. Retaining moisture and helping to soothe damaged skin.
Castor Oil – increases the lather in soap, imparting a rich and creamy texture, leaving a bubbly feel. It is a humectant and has a unique fatty acid which maintains skin hydration, providing relief from dryness and also helps to prevent wrinkles.
Shea Butter – is a thick, luxuriously fatty butter which is readily absorbed by the skin. It penetrates deeply, without being greasy. The high number of fatty acids helps to nourish and protect the skins barrier. The naturally occurring vitamin E is excellent for moisture without clogging pores and leaves the skin feeling silky smooth.
Glycerine – naturally occurring component during the saponification process that draws water to the skin. Its presence has been shown to prevent signs of aging and provides a protective barrier. Commercial bar soaps tend to be processed to remove glycerin as it shortens the curing process and gives the soap a longer shelf life. This hard worker, simply doesn’t get enough credit – it moisturises, protects, improves the skins appearance and helps dry skin heal.
